About this event

Your View at the Forth Bridge - Friday 19th September 2025

We’re delighted to announce that Your View is back, the once in a lifetime opportunity to ascend the Forth Bridge, returns this September.

This exclusive event will run over: Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st September 2024. You'll join an exclusive club of only a few thousand people to ascend the bridge in its history! This year we are delighted to offer three ticket packages.

The event is brought to you in partnership with Network Rail, Balfour Beatty and The Briggers, who all donate their time, expertise and equipment free of charge - none of this would be possible without their support. All profits from this fundraising event are donated to Barnardo’s Scotland.

What is Your View?

This exclusive experience allows you to view and enjoy an uninterrupted 360 degree panorama view of the Edinburgh and Fife coastline, as you have never seen them before, all from a viewing platform 361 feet in the air! The Bridge has become one of Scotland’s most photographed features and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From dawn until dusk, the views from the top are always different so YOUR VIEW will always be unique.

This year we are able to bring you 3 different packages - our Classic & Sunrise/Sunset packages, plus new for 2025, our Ultimate Experience which offers you the opportunity to also visit the track level of the bridge and the bothy level including a walk underneath the Bridge! . Please ensure you read through the details of each package carefully on our website to decide which suits you best before making a purchase: Your View at the Forth Bridge | Barnardo's (barnardos.org.uk)

PLEASE NOTE: The event runs from 6am-7.30pm, however you are only required to arrive at the event for your allocated time slot. Please arrive on-site 10minutes prior to your time slot to register.

Frequently asked questions

Once I’ve purchased a ticket, can I swap the time or day?

Unfortunately, no. Due to restrictions on the number of people who can access the viewing platform at any one time, we cannot change your time slot or day. We offer a grace period of two weeks from the point of purchase for guests to receive a refund, should they no longer be able to attend.

Do I have to be physically fit to take part?

The event does not require any significant physical exertion. There are approximately 12 steps to reach the exterior hoist which you will use to ascend to the top of the bridge. We do ask that you are medically fit and well, but no physical preparation is required.

Is the bridge fully accessible?

Unfortunately, we are now unable to accommodate wheelchair users since a new hoist was fitted in 2022. The approximately 12 stairs are the only means of access to the hoist.

Is there a minimum age requirement to enter the event?

All ticket holders must be 18 years of age or over on the day of the event.  There is no upper age limit.

What should I wear and what can I bring on to the bridge?

Please wear sensible, comfortable clothes and shoes that cover your entire foot, with a strong, sturdy sole.  This is Scotland and therefore we strongly recommend wearing a waterproof! Loose items or baggage will not be permitted onto the bridge and we do not have space to store them.

What facilities will be available on the day?

There are toilets available for use at ground level for those taking part. Please be aware there won't be toilets available on the platform tour which lasts 20-30 minutes. There will be a small catering provision available on site providing hot and cold drinks and snacks.

Will there be a safety briefing?

Yes - safety is our top priority for the day. Before you ascend the bridge, all participants will have a safety briefing which will cover what to expect from the hoist (exterior lift) and how you will spend your time on the platform.

Is this event suitable if I have a fear of heights?

If you have a fear of heights, acrophobia or vertigo then, unfortunately, we don't think this event is for you. We wouldn't recommend purchasing a ticket if this is the case.

Can I bring a camera?

Yes, you can bring smaller cameras onto the bridge. Please remember, as with the above advice about restrictions on what can be brought onto the bridge, cameras must either be securely attached to you with a neck strap or in a small bag. There is limited space in the hoist no rucksacks are permitted

Cancellation policy

The Scottish weather can be unpredictable and your safety is of paramount importance to us. Should it be decided that this event cannot go ahead due to extreme weather conditions, we will immediately post this on our  Facebook and Twitter.  We will also attempt to contact you by email and phone.
