Frequently asked questions

What happens on a Walking with Purpose mindfulness walk?

Our leisurely walks are 2-3 miles through beautiful natural landscapes. We'll stop at 2-3 locations for guided mindfulness and optional reflective writing to help you connect with your surroundings through all five senses. We'll have opportunities to share and conclude with a refreshing drink.

Who are these mindfulness walks for?

Anyone seeking a moment of calm in a busy life—whether you enjoy walking, being in nature, practising mindfulness, or simply need a break from daily stresses. Participants consistently report benefits including reduced stress, greater mental clarity, deeper nature connection, and fresh perspectives.

What if I've never practiced mindfulness before?

No previous mindfulness or writing experience is needed. Mindfulness practices are simple, accessible, and guided every step of the way – there's no ‘right way’ to experience mindfulness. Many first-timers find the natural setting makes mindfulness practices easier and more intuitive than expected.

How much does it cost to join a walk?

Each mindfulness walk is £12 per person, which includes the guided experience, all mindfulness practices, and a soft drink or hot beverage of your choice at a local café or pub afterwards.

What should I bring with me?

Come prepared for changeable weather with appropriate footwear (walking shoes or boots), a waterproof jacket, and a water bottle. We recommend a small notebook and pen for reflective writing (though this is optional). A portable sit mat or cushion for comfortable seating during mindfulness stops.

What if it rains?

Walks take place in all weather conditions except extreme cases (storms or dangerous conditions). Often, walking mindfully in light rain can be a uniquely beautiful sensory experience. However, please dress appropriately for the forecast. In case of severe weather, we'll contact you to reschedule.

Is there a minimum or maximum group size?

To ensure a quality experience, we keep our groups small and intimate. Our walks typically have between four and ten participants, creating a supportive atmosphere while allowing for personal space and reflection.

How physically demanding are the walks?

All walks are designed to be accessible to most fitness levels. We maintain a gentle pace over relatively flat terrain, covering two to three miles in two hours (including stops for mindfulness practices). There are no stiles, though some paths may be uneven or muddy depending on recent weather.

Can I come on my own?

Many of our participants come on their own, and the walks provide a welcoming, friendly environment for solo attendees. The shared experience often creates natural connections, but there's never any pressure to socialise more than feels comfortable.

What makes these different from regular walks?

While ordinary walks are beneficial, Walking with Purpose combines intentional movement with structured, guided mindfulness practices and optional reflective writing. Previous participants describe experiencing deeper awareness, greater mental clarity, and a more profound sense of peace.

What if I need to cancel my ticket?

We know that circumstances change. You can request a refund up to two days before the event. Eventbrite will automatically refund your payment method minus their transaction fees (approx. £1.02 at the time of publishing).
