Time For Real Change has been at the forefront of efforts to democratise and transform UNISON into a fighting, effective and truly member-led union since 2021. Time For Real Change won a majority for the Left on UNISON’s NEC in 2021 and 2023 and hopes to do so again in 2025.
Meanwhile, whatever improvements our union can make with a Left NEC, we know that the General Secretaryship, when in the hands of the Right, will be used to block that progress and to seek to restore the Union to the service of the Labour Party Right and Keir Starmer in Downing Street.
2025 will be a seismic year for UNISON, as we have not only NEC elections but also a General Secretary election commencing after Conference in August.
Come to our National Delegate Conference Rally to hear from:
· Andrea Egan, Candidate for General Secretary, standing on a commitment to only take a social worker’s wage, and return the rest of the £181,000 General Secretary pay package to the union’s strike and welfare funds.
· Julia Mwaluke, UNISON Vice-President and Black migrant worker, who has done so much to campaign for Migrant Worker rights in her own branch, Salford City, and within the union.
· Steve North, UNISON member and former President, removed from his elected UNISON roles after a disciplinary process controlled by UNISON’s senior officers
· Jenny Black, UNISON and Trans Rights activist, who has recently campaigned to reverse the Union’s shocking initial response to the Supreme Court judgment.
There will be plenty of time for questions and debate, as we plan for the week ahead at National Delegate Conference and the General Secretary election to follow.
Walk up towards Lime Street station from the Conference centre. Put ‘L3 5UL’ into your Maps app.
You can sign up to attend in person or to watch online via the live broadcast stream.
Social with DJ and bar afterwards, running up to 1.00am close.
