Exploring the synergistic relationship between creativity, sustainable design principles, and impactful leadership in addressing contemporary global challenges.

Yewande Akinola is an award-winning engineer and innovator. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Design and Appropriate Technology from the University of Warwick and a Master's in Innovation and Design for Sustainability from Cranfield University. Yewande has extensive engineering experience, including the design of sustainable systems, engineering design management for large-scale projects, and manufacturing for construction in the built environment. Her work spans the UK, Africa, the Middle East, and East Asia.

Yewande is an honorary fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and addition to her engineering work, she has contributed to Channel 4 and National Geographic TV programmes, promoting engineering and encouraging more women to pursue careers in the field. One of her key primary focuses is on sustainable water solutions.

Yewande will speak on the synergistic relationship between creativity, sustainable design principles, and impactful leadership in addressing contemporary global challenges. She will draw on her experience, to show how fostering innovative and imaginative approaches is crucial for developing truly sustainable solutions that resonate across environmental, social, and economic dimensions. Her talk will delve into how creative thinking can unlock novel pathways for resource efficiency, circularity, and resilient infrastructure. Furthermore, she will examine the leadership qualities necessary to champion and implement impactful change for progress with an emphasis on vision, collaboration, and effective communication.
