We are excited to invite SEND children and their families to a Sensory Story Time session at Hattersley Library all about a trip to London.
Hattersley Library is a large, spacious building with an open-plan junior area where the story will take place. Children will sit in a circle and be invited to play with the props. There is no expectation for children to participate with the props if they don't wish to, they are free to come and go from the circle as they please.
The event takes place on a Saturday, Hattersley Library will be in unstaffed mode which means the library shouldn't be as busy as usual. Once you book this event an email will be sent to you with instructions on how to access the library using Open+ to gain access on a Saturday. A member of staff will be on the door ahead of the event to make sure families can access the building.
Staff will be able to give access to toilets if needed. There are several parking spaces next to the library for library users including two disabled parking bays.
The story is told using props that involve sound, touch, smell and sight. Please follow this link for an example of a sensory story: A Day at the Seaside │Bag Books - YouTube
