About this event

This walk is part of a series of seasonal strolls on Cambourne Nature Reserve.

Join nature enthusiast and Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs, and Northants staff member Rebecca Neal for a night walk through Cambourne Nature Reserve and via public footpaths to Bourn Windmill. We'll walk around 3 miles (in total)at a gentle pace with bat detectors to hear these fascinating night-time hunters, and we'll also listen out for hooting owls and barking deer. We may even come across some glow worms!

This walk is aimed at adults but interested older children are welcome.

Additional information

  • This walk will take us off Cambourne Nature Reserve and into the surrounding countryside. We will be returning on rustic footpaths in the dark, as well as negotiating narrow gates (there is a more accessible night walk which sticks to flatter paths in late August)
  • This event is weather dependent and may be cancelled at short notice
  • Toilets and light refreshments will be available at the mill. Donations to the mill are welcome
  • Please refer to our event terms and conditions webpage for details on refunds and cancellations, as well as general information about how we run our events
  • The benefits of joining the Wildlife Trust BCN include a reduced rate for events. Individual membership is from £4 a month.
  • You will need long sleeves and long trousers to avoid bites, stings and scratches, and sensible shoes you don’t mind getting muddy. You may also want to bring a torch (we can provide one if needed)
  • We aim to make our sessions as accessible as possible and are happy to make reasonable adjustments to ensure as many people as possible can enjoy them. Please contact us to discuss your accessibility needs.
  • The meeting point is Cambourne Nature Reserve car park, off School Lane, between Fenbridge and Quidditch Lane. This is a public carpark, it is not usually busy but spaces cannot be guaranteed.
