About this event

This class is suitable for absolute beginners, or those who haven’t crocheted since childhood. We will teach you all the basic skills you will need to get going, including:

  • How to hold your hook
  • Making a starting slip knot
  • Making a starting chain
  • Double crochet stitch
  • Half Treble crochet stitch
  • Treble crochet stitch
  • Slip stitch
  • Finishing your work

We will also discuss yarn types and weights, how to match the correct hook size for your project, how to read a ball band and show you lots of different yarns and hook types. We will discuss the basics of how to read a crochet pattern and begin a project using a simple pattern that you can take home and complete after the class.

Note: If you are left handed don't worry! It is just as easy to learn "right handed" (our left handed shop staff did) and adjust to what you feel comfortable with. Feel free to ask us for tips and tricks.
