In 2014, Dr. Brian May, astrophysicist and guitarist for the rock band QUEEN;  Asteroid Institute President Danica Remy; Apollo 9 astronaut Rusty Schweickart; and film producer Grig Richters  came together to co-found Asteroid Day, a day recognized worldwide to advance education around asteroids and asteroid awareness. In 2016, Asteroid Day was recognized by the UN as an international day of education and awareness. Asteroid Day is a program of Luxembourg’s Asteroid Foundation.
